Are You Ready for Your Death?

It’s not a comfortable question.
Most of us aren’t ready, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be prepared.

Preparing for death isn’t about being pessimistic. It’s about making life easier for the people we love, reducing confusion, and ensuring our wishes are respected. This is especially important when living abroad in Japan, where systems, language, and procedures can feel overwhelming.

I originally wanted to call this webinar “Death for Dunces.”

In the end, we chose something a little more practical—but the spirit remains the same: clear, accessible, no shame, no fear-mongering.

On January 27th, 2026 I led a practical and compassionate webinar with Mediatinker (Kristen McQuillin). We had overwhelming sign up and many asked, after the webinar, if the recording would be made available so we decided to set up a way to purchase the recording.

This session was designed to help international residents in Japan organise their affairs—for life now, and for the inevitable moment when someone else may need to step in.
